Oluwatosin Folarin wins 2016 VSO Awards in the UK

- A Nigerian youth, Oluwatosin Folarin has made Nigeria proud in far away United Kingdom 

 - Folarin won the 2016 Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) National Youth Volunteer Award 

 - She is the first Nigerian to win the award 

 A Nigerian youth, Oluwatosin Folarin has been declared the winner of the 2016 VSO National Youth Volunteer Award in the United Kingdom




Oluwatosin Folarin has made Nigeria proud Folarin, 23, a guidance and counselling graduate of the University of Lagos, worked on several development project in rural communities in order to secure livelihood which earned her the award. VSO- Voluntary Service Overseas is an International Development Charity with a vision for a world without poverty and a mission to bring people together to fight poverty. 



VSO was established in 1958 and has worked in numerous countries in Africa, Asia and Pacific. Folarin's favorite quote is ''The purpose of our Live is to make impact". Her achievement is a testament to the fact that Nigerians can excel when given the opportunity. 

Two months ago, a Nigerian lady identified as Fathia Kareem bagged the overall best medical student from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. Kareem also won 12 of the 15 awards in the school's graduating ceremony. 

Similarly, another Nigerian, Ufot Ekong succeeded in breaking a 50-year-record in Japan. Ekong received his masters’ degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Tokai University in Tokyo, Japan where he achieved the feat recording the university’s highest score in the past 50 years. In his first semester, the Nigerian genius solved a maths puzzle that has been unsolvable in the last 30 years.
